since thursday

Thursday
I went to Carol's (the previous owner and beginner of the Knitting Corner a local Knit shop)memorial service at 1 o'clock. It was a lovely service. She had donated her body to science so there was no viewing of the body just fond memories and lots of support. Her sister Susan runs the store now and had been handling it for Carol while Carol was unable to toward the end of her life. So that is nice. Carol was a very sweet lady she'll be missed. RIP

I ran into Bobby and Linda from my work in the parking lot and missed seeing Melissa a lurker from my SnB group (we have a yahoo bit so we have members who don't come regularlly but keep up with whats happening by sticking with us online). So I was sad not to see Melissa...I wish she could come to the Monday nights more... and it was nice to chat with Linda and Bobby since I haven't worked the past two weeks and won't be working next week. Sigh I miss the yarn store.
Which is probubly why I have visited it like two or three times this week. Once on wensday (picked up my pay check and was just letting everyone know how things were going, noticed we had a stereo system installed), then on thursday (stopped in to buy two $10 gift certificates and my mom bought a set of denise knitting needles and some powder blue plush yarn that she is in love with).

I started the garter belt project with the Phildar yarn I had to go up a size in needles to get the gauge but it looks good. I also ran into a dumb mistake on
Friday
Since I woke up so excited to continue knitting on the garters I had started the day before I started knitting before I was fully awake (don't recommend doing it) and ended up doing a stitch wrong in two places and not catching it till about ten rows later. No big deal right I rip it out to the point of the mistake and am fixing away only due to the nature of the stitch which creates these loops that need to be lined up above the other loop stitches that had come before it I was having some major difficulties. So after messing with that for... a good long while I decided it was stoopid of me to do this since I could re-knit it with little to no effort since I hadn't gotten that far into it and it'd only set me back a day. So frogged the whole thing and started over after I embrodiered the baby onsie for my god baby. (pictures posted)I really enjoied the embrodering. I am totally taking that up and selling stuff I've embrodiered. I have some ideas and things. anywhoo... another post for another day.
Mikie came down on Friday. I <3 mikie. He's my best friend who lives in Richmond and so he came down to chill with me and stayed til this evening but he's coming back tomorrow after he gets off work (which is why he ran back up to Richmond).
So I took mikie to Sonic's for the new mint blast malt shake and some fires. which was uber good. Mikie had never been to sonic. I love sonic the whole drive in concept and the food is just awesome.. I will gladly eat a bacon cheese burger, large fries, regular cheese coney dog, cherry limade and small pineapple shake and not even blink an eye. In fact I did earlier this week before mikie came. Yum Yum.
That was my third visit to Sonics in a week. Mikie and I just vegged and shared x-mas presents. I loved everything he got me (some lip gloss from bath and body that is super fly, some tea (I <3 tea), a book (Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris), and some starbucks green tea breath mints (I <3 those jibber jams too) all in all a perfect gift because it came with love. I got hime a new colone set of his favorite colone since last time I was in Richmond I saw he was getting low (mostly cause I always put some on when I visit it smells good and I figure its just coture to wear men's colone you like if you like it) so yuppers.

Then Saturday or today.
Mikie and I woke up super early for a set of people wo haven't seen each other since November first (we stayed up and watched the power puff girls x-mas special and crashed). Anywhoo. we woke up at 6 in the AM. yes I know so horribly early (not). And we just chillin, munched some cereal and what not tried to figure out what we wanted to do today. So we went to relative theory (a record store in Norfolk) and then were gonna eat at Cora's (an awesome restraunt in Norfolk) but when we got to Cora's they were having a private party till 2:30 and as it was one we decided to go to the starbucks down the road and get something to wake us up a bit more since we we're knid of in slow motion due to the lack of sleepies. So we get some drink (the peppermint hot choclate is really good it made me want to go home and grind up peppermints and put the peppermint powder into asome hot chocalte mix and shake it up... which I may just do some time) and chatted for a bit till it was close enough to walk back to Cora's. Ya well Cora's let me down today. Apprently they close everyday at 2:30 and open agian at 5 so we we're like... uh no we're hungry so we went to panera's down the street. Still good but not Cora's I geuss we'll go monday or something when Mikie gets back cause Cora's is super good.
Then Mikie and I came back to my house and he left and Amber came to get me to help her felt her sisters bag and to just chill. So we went to micheals and then her house. the felting turned out great I think (it was both of our first time felting something on purpose). I'll post pics or links to pics as soon as she takes some. Then we knit and watched the Pink Panther movie till 11.
At micheal's I bought some yarn (its pink and mac-fluffly, very soft) I'm going to use it to make a hat similar to the one in the Stitch and Bitch nation book (the little bunny one) for my friend's daughter, Tess, she's three. I also go some fabric glitter spray for a jean project i'm jammin on makin.
{quick explanation--> I went to Target with my mom and was walking past the little girls section which I always glance at because its got cute stuff and I'm a tiny person and can sometime's still fit in it to the dismay of many adults and children alike who can not or think I should grow up. Anywhoo. they had these jeans (i am to tall for the pants unless their at limited2)that had this glittery sheen to them that wasn't over powering but cute and would totally pass for acceptable in an adult ansomble(sp). and as I was looking the little light came on (Ding) and said I can make those jibber-jams. So now I'm going to make them which is what the fabric paint glitter spray is for just need to figure out what jeans I wanna use.}
I also got some little cute-see canvas bags that are the perfect size to hold a girls wallet, handie (cellular), and small necessaties (i.e. lip gloss and the occasional feminine products). they came in a 4 pack with one color of each (blue, yellow, pink, and purple).I'm going to embroader them and give them away or sell them. I'll post pictures when their done.
Oh ya. To explain the X-mas light pictures. Amber and I checked out this street on the way back to my house and had to take pics. There is another house that is just as crazy as these jibber jams with its lights that I need to take some pictures of. But these were good. I love the golf ball mail box in the first one. hehe you can only see it as a silo-et (I can;t spell and I'm being lazy). Welp. Till I have more to report.
Over and out.

Phildar yarn from Jill's inheritance stash (it smelt like raviolie when I got it which entertaining to me). Look at the cute lil' pink and blue flecks... awww.. so garters are the best thing ever for this yarn. Pray the gauge works.... <3  Posted by Hello
Purple yarns I used in the scarf I was just yammerin about. the nubbly one is a freebie from Jill the yarn angel and the rest is a gift from my Grandmother. <3's and thanks to all. scarf pix soon.  Posted by Hello
Good Morning
I'm rather chipper for not having slept well I must say. It felt like mars had inflicted its winter temptratures upon my house last night. Unbearable hot.
Anywhoodle. It's very nice now.

I am doing a test gauge to see if I work two strands of the Phildar yarn that Jill gave away at the last SnB if I can make the Betty pattern from Knitty.
I like the pattern and this is just the sweetest yarn and I really can't think of anything else to do with it so hopefully it works out yes?

I made a scarf (a novelty scarf) the other night its not quite finished as I made it long enough and tapered it so I could sport it as a belt if I so desired to as well. I always did prefer clothing that could handle doubleing as something else. Anywhoo. the scarf goes wonderfully with my favorite purple winter coat (it's reversible! one side is furry fluffy goodness and makes me look like I skin'd grimice from McDonald's to look like a pimp and the other side is a purple vynil that is very smart. I generally wear it on that side since its the water resistant side. Very warm very comfy very purple. <3<3...) So that is awesome. the scarf also kind of reminds me of My little ponies. Which is silly so i geuss I could wear my My little ponies beenie with my purple coat and my new winter gloves and I'd look jammin" if it ever got bleedin cold enough to wear all that. Sigh... 70 degrees every bleeding day. I know were near a beach but New york has beaches and it gets cold for winter time.

other news. I didn't gauge for the ribbion twist yarn... since well I figured if the yarn is for the pattern exactly then I should knit it exactly to what it recommends. Nope my gauge was off by three when I finally tested it at the prompting of the group telling me it looked to small (I was half way through the back pannel. (Blah!) oh course they were right. I was off by three measly stitches (this is a bulky yarn so thats alot) So I need to make the next size up. It takes the same amount of yarn as the small so I'm not to worried about it though I might buy and extra skein just in case.So I need to restart that. always a daunting task restarting something.

My mum wants me to make the biker sweater for my Omi because she'd like the cut. I am very keen to the idea so I think I'm going to buy a skein of bingo yarn and see if I can use it. There is a gorgous cranberry and red twist that would look fabulous and I bought little scottie buttons that I was going to sew on the bottom or top collar as an accent since my Omi loves scotties. Hopefully the bingo will work since I really liked that pattern it knit up quickly and is really relatively painless. We'll see yes?

Still working ont he back of the misfits pillow using the loop stitch from the SnB Nation Book. Its a fun stitch but the yarn I am working with is and isn't agreeing with it. Its a bit hard to keep the loops all the same gauge also. I enjoy the stitch though. I think I'm going to have to get a diffrent skein of black and do it since I was trying to use what was left of my lamb's pride (75%wool 25%mohair) and the mohair keeps gripping together so if there is any problems I can't unravel it easily to fix the problem or what ever. So there is that. Sigh I do need to get that done.

My embrodery kit came. I'm most excited to get to play with it. I read the instruction book yesterday. Its very basic and easy to follow so we'll see how that goes yes? I'd love to do some embrodered baby onesies. I'll have to go out and get the nessacary items.

I need to get something for some special people for christmas too. I hope a girft certificate for 10 dollars each to my work will be enough but maybe not. Sigh... decisions decisions.

other stuff. Been cutting out more peices to sew together. Mostly bags and little things like that. I have this kitchen apron whose fabric is so atrociously 60's in design that I am in love with it. This apron design is also like the excess of fabric for an apron ever since its like a smock and cover. So i am thinking I want to turn it into a cute little day dress with modern lines and an empire waist bar. very cute. Just need a pattern to come together for me. I'll probubly try to make the pattern (dangerous I know ) but I am not thinking it'd be that difficult. I just need to remember seam allowances mmhmm.

A candy cane christmas tree Posted by Hello
Craftyness
Not Martha posted about a candy cane christmas tree that she found on the 30th. It made me really want to make my own ... So I did. Thats the explanation for the candy cane tree thing in case there was any need for one.
Its made with 2 boxes of candy canes, a support form (i.e. a cone made from card board covered with foil), tape and rubber bands. I debated making it free standing by using some stronger adhesion techniques but I really wanted to still be able to eat the candy canes after the holidays are over so yuppers.
Knitting
I finished the Debbie Bliss Biker Jacket. Its looking super hot. I think I figured out what I'm going to do with the eros yarn... well I'm going to attempt to do it any ways. But that will be waiting till after I finish some of the other stuff. Namely gloves for Paul, the Erin sweater from rowan's twisted ribbion yarn, the back of the misfits pillow, yup that should all get done first.
I am definatly feeling much better from this cold though I'm still fighting it. It was a killer one. I am glad it didn't get me really really sick like some colds like this have before since that would have totally blown super chunks.
When I went to the doctors today they were all commenting on my knitting... alot of them knit there so its fun to hear about what their all doing.

the update

So lets see...
knitting up a storm
What to tell what to tell. the other sleevie is being sewn on as we speak. I will definatly have the jacket finished by tomorrow and then I have to throw together... well the Erin sweater, a pair of gloves, a can coozie and a knit kit. Not to much at all.
Tonight the SNB was super small in comparisson to what we've been having lately. But it was nice in a way too. I felt like I accomplished alot. Joanne's sweater looks great that she just finished. My mom came to the SNB tonight too. She said she really enjoied it which makes me happy. I like having her around.
The new Knitty issue is really good. I really like the uterus hehe and really all the patterns that are offered this time. So if you haven't checked it out you really aught to since it is awesome.
Oh i got my new halycon yarn cataloge in the mail today. Always exciting.
What else what else.
this cold has been killing me I am being constantly torn between feeling ok to feeling absolutly awful. It really really sucks. I sneeze all the time and have a runny nose constantly I hate taking medicine but really have to to try to garentee that it won't turn into a type of strep throat i catch every so often if I am not carful with a cold. (it has to do with my nose getting broken so many times).
anywhoodle.
My brother enjoied the Pixies concert I got him tickets too. So that makes me happy. My friends Jay and Adam want to come down and visit after christmas. i should be getting a post card from the carribean in a couple weeks since tiffany is going there for the winter siesta (I love post cards from far off places who knew 35 cents could make you feel so cherished and exciting)
I am mailing maux's package tomorrow (its been sitting in my room for a couple weeks) and marissa's money for her poetry book ( i kept meaning to send that too)
i should probubly try to remail Been's package also and get those books mailed out to greg since.. well they'll just keep sitting in my room if I don't send them.
My embrodiery kit should be arriving any day between the 8th and the 16th. sigh. I want it to get here already. Blah! I want to play with embrodery. Well I am feeling light headed so I better go to bed.

A-chew...

Hello..
I took pictures and then couldn't find the usb cord. So no new pictures till I find that.
I caught a massive cold. it super sucks.
I went to Stacey's Knitting Christmas party. It was quaint. I finished the edgeings and sleeves and have sewed everything together but one sleeve and one cuff. So it should be done in time for the SNB tomorrow as long as this cold doesn't totally wipe me out.
Blah. Stuff noses suck.
I have been going thouhg my socks looking to make those cute little sock guys from the Bust magazine. Uber cuteness.
Welp. Time to go take a nap maybe i'll be able to breathe agian by the time I wake up.

You Got it
So lets see where to begin.
Last night I went to my usual monday night haunt at Border's Va beach Stitch and Bitch. We all think turning my pin up girl on yarn into a pin up mermaid on yarn will be the best image to use for the Va beach mascot. So I'll get right to making the final image for next week so Joanne can use her super compuer skills and equipment to get it all savvied up. I'm seeing business cards and t-shirts and fliers in the near future.
I bought the new bust magazine.. I am totally jammin on it. The reason **I am about to go on a slight rammble** well I was jet around in interspace and was checkin on Not Martha's creative girl wonder blog where she has made those super cute little magnifying marble magnets and posts instructions on how to do them. So I got all in the super craft mode. Like hmmm. I need a craft time this week. Knitting doesn't count I totally need to sit down and make pretty little things like magnifying magnets. So that was the plan then I'm at the SnB and I'm checkin out the new Bust(because who doesn't love that magazine?) and it has this whole section of super cute super crafty little how to makes... My inner craft hut camp nerd broke out for sure. I am seriously like why did I never think or do half of this stuff before and the other part is like wow I haven't done that in a while it was fun. So I'm like doodley doodley do time to have a craft time. Amber said she'd join me but if no one ends up joining me I think I'll be really happy to do it all by myself. Just me and a pile of glue sissors and cut up peices of everything you can think of. Creative chaos is so much fun.
So... On ward and upward. I want this really really bad. I think I'm going to buy it for myself. I have been wanting to learn embroidery lately (I am going to be one super prepared grandma). So yes I think I will purchase this delightful little set. woot woot. Emboridery here I come.
back to things I have actually acomplished.
I went to the library and payed my $3 fines and checked out and compostion book (a book on compostion not the black and white numbers from the dollar store in case there was any confusion). then peter and i went to Hancock fabrics where I bought a zipper(red very cherry looking), some ribbion(that didn't work out so its now in abox waiting for a project in the future), four button snaps(large) and some spree candies (chewy for extra goodness).
I obviously went by the bank and deposited my last check. oh I gave the 40 bucks to amber to get Peter's pixies ticket. So that was another gibber-jam to cross of the list.
Came home peter and I cleaned the main floor of the house and watched Fight club. I sewed the sweaters siding together and put in the neck snap and pinned in the zipper. That jam is now a vest. To bad I don't wear vests huh so it could be all done. Then at the snb I sewed in half the zipper and went to micheals (its down the block about a half a second) and got the knitting needles (size 15 us) for the erin sweater( how I didn't already have those is beyond me) and some yarn to for my brother to learn to knit on next week when his finger is cerifiably no longer broken. I feel like a mega spender. No more shopping after I get the embrodery kit and the book for mom for x-mas. thats. 60 bucks or there abouts more $$$ I'd be spending but it must be done.
Sigh I just ordered the embrodiry kit. goodie goodie gum drops. no more money spent is more money saved. So no more. Hiding my card till my next pay check.
anyways... So I have the last sleeve to knit I started it and the bottom finishing (which should be done and sewn on by the end of the day with its handy little snap included)then all thats left is to sew together the sleeves and put them on and knit up the arm finishings sew them on and put their little snaps in and that jam is done.
Well I'm running off to get started on my new day.
journal edit
I totally forgot about this! Mollie brought me back harbio gummie bears from Germany!!! YUM! I'll have to get her some kinder bueno to thank her.

Monday, November 29, 2004

So I started sewing the sweater together. I have the neck finishing sewn on and the shoulders sewn together. The sides are pinned and I am working ont he last sleeve thought I think I'm going to rip it all out since I got lost due to a lack of attention to detail at Ambers and now am worred that I'm going to be making it to short I already know I made the other a little longer than it had originally called for but it was only by a half and inch and I think it'll be fine. Better long than short.
I did some drawings for the SnB logo for the VA beach group. I have two mermaids, yarn ball and needles with halo and angle wings, a beach sitter knitting and a few other ideas that I need tofinish getting on paper. I hope they like one of them.
I really like the beach sitter. hehe its a funny shot. what else what else...
hung out at Ambers and knit with her. She was running into a funky run with her bag but I think she got past it. Its looking really good and she should get it finished super soon.
I think I want to have craft time this week and make some of the magnify magnets. their cute... maybe play around with my chess board idea (or checker board which ever you play).
well I best get to bed. I have a long day of... knitting and lounging about tomorrow.

Sunday, November 28, 2004

SO lets see.
My brothers and dad returned from my grandmothers house and brought me the yarn she had purchased me ages ago. So that was exciting. I'll have to figure out what to do with it.
The baby blanket despite its crooked edges is finished. I am happy with it.
The biker sweater has been peiced together and I plan to have that sewn up in no time. I still have some edging and a sleeve to knit up but those are quick and easy so it should be done really soon.
Still working on the mermaid concept for the VA beach snb.Yup so I'm going to jet off to go finish all that stuff so I can start the erin sweater.

Saturday, November 27, 2004

Plans for the day include
* working
* checking out ribbon for the edgeing of the baby blanket (that is all done except of that)
* finishing the second sleevie to the biker jacket
* sewing the biker jacket together.
* cleaning my room
* starting erin
* drawing mermaids

Yup that about covers it all.
Till laters. Keep up the Knit.

old things return to the fore front

So things that are happening
I work tomorrow. Always a good thing. I need to rememeber to pick up the gift for the christmas party on the 9th. I hope we get pay checks this week so I can purchase peter a ticket to the pixie's concert.

Greg and I worked out a deal he's going to build me a spot for me to have my images hosted for $10 a month. So thats cool.

I rediscovered a goth band I was in love with for years and years. Diary of dreams. Sigh I love his voice its like silk and their stuff always makes me want to dance and be pretty. So woot woot for refinding them.

Knitting is going good. I still need to go buy the ribbon for the baby blanket and crochet that on and get the zipper and large snaps for the biker jacket... I have yet to finish the sleevies but I have like three rows left on one and then its a day of knitting for the other sleevie so never fear.
I need to get the camera back from my dad to show you guys what it looks like.
After I finish it then its on to the erin sweater. I'm excited.

My friend JT is moving to South africa to live with his Grandmother who is getting lonely in her old age. So that made me sad He leaves the 31st of December I am planiing to go up to the airport and see him off. I'm going to make him a beer coozie to go and a little starter knit kit for his plane flight since its 14 hours long. I hope to get to him soon enought ot get him started before he gets on the plane and what not but we'll see. he's generally a quick learner.

Monday, November 22, 2004

Yay! it( the blog) is a little better. we'll see what we can come up with by the end of the week eh?

Knitting news
I get to knit while my brother has his meeting and then i have to clean clean clean before i can do anything else. I need to stop in at micheals tonight to look at ribbons. I want to find a ribon to crochet around the edge of the baby blanket that I should have finished ages ago to give it a more finished edge. Its looking really good though. Once I do that I'm gonna wash it and give it to the baby it was made for. I hope that he baby likes it.
I really wanna get this sweater done too. then i can start Erin. Which should knit up faster than I can say k2tog.
In case you couldn't tell the site is currently UNDER CONSTRCUTION
Thats why it looks so funky. As I am not the wizarding computer genius I wish I could be I hope you will all put up with the.. kookie-ness and what not. I hope to have it all cleared up by the end of the week.

misfits, black sheep and speeding

If you click on the misfits image it will take you to a pdf of the pattern I created for a knit misfits skull. I really have to thank Amber for lending me her computer skills to get it up as I am not the comp. wiz she is. So Everyone thank Amber for making this possible. I should probubly thank Jen for putting the idea in my head and Debbie Stoller for inspiring a conversation about knitted skulls in the first place. Now that all the thanks are out I hope everyone will enjoy the pattern and post lots of little finished items for me to see it on.

Other knitting news
I finished the right panel of the biker jacket and started the first sleevie. I was worried that I would run out of yarn before I found the fourth skein that I some how misplaced but I think I'm not even going to need it. And if I do it will be very little of it that I'll need just enough to finish finishings.

I was thinking about deleting this blog and making a new one with a better name but the name I wanted isn't really available so I just altered this one so that I'd like it more. I geuss I just feel people aren't catching the Tom Robbins referance... not sure why i expected them to in the first place but thats another story. So I am now just waiting to hear from greg about my image. I want to wait to do the big changes when I get it since it'd be easy enough to do.

uh... ya I think that about covers it all. I decided I am going to wait a bit longer to get the debbie bliss club thing and pay off a speeding ticket I got that my mom paid off. I feel bad that she paid it off for me when I could pay for it so I want to at least pay for 65% of it. So thats first then I'll see about the bliss club next time and the jeans the time after that. yup yup. all extras go to the bank to be saved for the future.

Saturday, November 20, 2004

So i finished the Left panel to the Biker jacket. pretty stoked about that. I have a feeling that I'm going to make silly mistakes on the next panel since i have to switch all the instructions to make the opposite myself. Maybe I'll be smart and right it all out on a peice of paper before I get going that way its there and I won't make the stupid mistakes I'd make when I get tired and am reading the left panels thing. Ya thats what I'll do.So thats good.
Amber hasn't called and I don't think she is going to and I can't find her number so I am just going to not worry about it. I'll figure out another way to post the misfits pattern and I'll figure out the blog stuff laters. Yup well I think thats it for now. I'm going to go get something to eat. I'm starving.

the haps

Mud Flap Girl update
So I was looking at the pattern for the mud flap girl given in the Stitch and bitch Nation book. Jenna Adorno tried to fit all the detail of the mud flap girl into a 26st by 26st pattern. this would work if it were like... tiny since the pattern would create enough of the general image to make your eye say oh mudflap girl. So I am thinking that I am going to have to rewrite the whole tank pattern with a smaller yarn weight so I can get the stitch space to make the lady look like herself. That I am afraid will take a little longer tomorrow to do. So I will get that going. I am still going to post the pattern for the mud flap girl but it won't be able to work with that tank pattern just yet. I do have an idea inspired by SugarCUBED finished projects that will allow you to put it on that specific pattern but it won't be knit in.Ya just thought I'd warn the masses before i disappoint them by not being able to get the workable pattern out yet.

I feel bad for trying to correct this ladies pattern but it is really important to me to fix if only for the memory of my step-grandmother margie (margret). She supported her children during her first marriage by being a trucker. She put all her kids through college and was really just an Outstanding sweet hearted woman and if there is any reason for this pattern to work its for hard working trucker woman like her.

Bliss Biker Jacket
Its going good. I finished the back and started the front left panel. I'm about 20% done with that and should have it finished by this evening if I am diligent. We'll see though. I am really enjoying it though. Jill from my knitting group didn't seem to like Bliss patterns saying they were over complicated but I haven't had any problems. Lets hope I didn't just jinx myself. hehe.
Well I'm off to watch gangster movies, knit, and work on the mudflap girl.

finished back, the bliss club, and hot pants

I finished the back of the Debbie Bliss Biker Jacket and started the right front panel. I am super stoked about this whole thing. I am praying i have enough yarn. I think I do but .... some times it just dies. I only used one skein for the whole back and had a bit left over. I started the second skein and its going fine. I think if I can pull out the two front panels on this skein then I should be fine since all that would be left is the sleevies and the border edges.
Oh Debbie Bliss has club now. Its 50 dollars to join up. Nice_Knits told me about it and has talked me into joining. I have to wait til my next pay check of course but I think that will be ok. I had wanted to get the jeans I've been eyeing for a year on the sailor Jerry site. But I can wait a bit longer on those. Probubly best in the long run since I think I want to purchase them from the store up in Philly to make sure they'll fit since they are $160 and the extra smalls on the site say that their a size 3/4. I wear a size 0/1 generally so... ya. Making sure they'll fit would be a wise matter.

Knit update
I have about two inches left to knit ont he back of the Debbie Bliss Biker Jacket before I do the four rows of decreasing and the final row to bind off. So I am super stoked about that. I Haven't even finished my first skein of yarn yet either which makes me very happy because I belive I will have enough of it to finish the whole Jacket. Which is good since... I have no idea where I'd find this yarn agian. Its really random.

I am planning to get two inertsia patterns up for the live journal Punk_knitters community on saturday so I will post those here as well. They will be the corrected Misfits pattern and a better mud-flap girl patttern to make up for the sorry on in the stitch and Bitch Nation book. I have a deep lover for trucker culture and that pattern just killed me because its such a great idea that went so bad.

Other than that I wanted to continue on the idea that khrystn started. Basically its a list of little projects and ideas you can use left over yarn for. I've added to it and you all are welcome to add away as well. Any questions, suggestions or what not is always welcome. enjoy.

Here's the list:

- hats (with cables, with ribbing, with beads, with a brim, felted...)
- cell phone / PDA / game boy holders
- the fuzzy dice
- headband / ear warmers
- windy city scarf
- mittens / gloves (with or without fingers)
- guitar strap
- slippers
- cat toys
- finger puppets
- water bottle tote
- flip flops
- dish clothes
- socks
- purse
- nose warmer
- doggy sweater
- leg warmers
- Elvis wigs
- easter eggs/christmas ornaments/light fixtures
- hackie sacks
- one row sweaters
- wrist warmers/arm warmers
- egg warmers
- willy warmer
- coaster
- can cozies
- tea cozies
- bookmark
- skinny scarves
- bottle cozies
- felted soap bars
- knit sponge or soap covers for an exfoliating experiance

Blog update
I have added a bunch of new links so you might check those out. Some of them are really really awesome. I have to admit when I'm not knitting all I do is look around for stuff on knitting. Its pretty bad. Anyways so thats new and working.
My friend Amber has been so kind as to be my director in the ways of changing things around the way I want them. I will be doing all of that as soon as my other friend Greg gets my picture up that I wanted to use for the background. He offered to host it for me till I decide on who I want to settle down and start paying for image hosting space. If anyone has any suggestions for that by the way let me know.
So I think that about covers it for now.

rememeber to look later

Sweet Gum Fiber Farm
I just found this while looking for something else and haven't gotten a chance to really check it out so ... ya. But i wanted to later..
Also I plan to post in a bit ... so look forward to that. this is just a remind me til later post.

So I've decided to retire the Dna scarf to a shelf for a while before I decide to kill it. It'll just be a UFO for a month or two till we can both calm down and come to terms with one another.
I started a debbie Bliss pattern with the red yarn that Jill, Amber and Jen donated to my small stash. The gauge knit up perfectly to the gauge it asked for so I am super stoked and it looks like the debbie bliss tweed too so even cooler. I'm making the Biker Jacket. I started it monday and already have half of the back done. so thats cool cool.
I bought the Rowan ribbon twist yarn I had to have and also the Ribbon twist pattern book. I'm going to make the Erin sweater. I can't find a link to it but its lovely its mostly seed(moss) stitch. It should knit up really fast so I'll post it when i get that going.
My digital camera is out of the country right now with my dad in Iraq so I won't be able to post any pics for a bit. But soon soon.
i think that about covers it all. I got new replacement needles for my brothers gloves so I'll do those this week as well since they knit up really fast. i hope I can get this sweater done quickly its really easy and I am totally enjoying it. I am really just so glad I am not working on the dna.
oh reviews for the new Stitch and Bitch nation. I really liked the patterns (with the exception fo the mud flap girl which looked like a beaten seal or dying mermaid rather than the mud flap chickla) I felt that the pictures had to much emphasis on the models not the knits and that the pattern sections were over cluttered witht the helpful hint boxes. the front section which had wonderful infromation is a blown off because it is just straight reading reading reading and people soon loose their attention span to it. I felt that the book is good but that it had the ability to be so much greater if it had been delayed for another couple months to fiddle around with the layouts and get more knit oreinted photos. Oh also I wish all the snb pages were together not sparadically placed between the patterns as well. That was annoying. I still own and love the book but feel it was released a bit to quicklyt and unrefined. Its definatly not the must must have the first book was.
ok well I am done now. i need to go jet off to get ready for work and finish the sweater back.

Random kn*t about the sh*t ...

So I am totally in like a tizzy because I didn't realize that book stitch and Bitch Nation is already out and I am like dying to get my hands on it. so Tomorrow I am going to have to run like a mad woman to go and get it before all those other knitters get them all.
In other areas of media entertainment I checked out that Gangster Kniters music video. hehe Its funny but I still prefer Micheal Gondry's sterograim video. I was suprised to see I hadn't posted about that before now. Anywhoodle.
Tomorrow besides knitting at the doctors office and going to work I'm going to be going to Maber's house to exchange knitting advice for computer advice so I can spiff this little blog up into something totally awesome... Not sure what yet but we shall see. So look forward to that and its crazyness.
Ya. so umm... that about covers it... must get stich and bitch nation. I am so in love with a bunch of the patterns in it. The joey ramones and henry rollins dolls didn't live up to my expectations but so many other things in the book are so awesome that I don't mind. Namely the moster slippers and the little devil pants and the... well you get the idea.
the rhinestone and stud setter $3 Posted by Hello
So thanks to a post from a very friendly person I have now gotten the side bar back to where it is supose to be. I am sad to lose the picture of the pink aluminum knitting needles since... well I love pink aluminum knitting needles but some times things are the way they are.
I am Nervous about meeting Nate and Erin today but... well I am sure it'll go well. I wonder where my mother is since she is coming with me to meet them. I am doing the last bits of the baby blanket and its killing me. I swear I must be really really really inot making simple things difficult for no reason since I seem to do it very often.
you know what is weird... Last knit I was putting somethings aways as a minor attempt at cleaning my room I put up two boxes in my closet and my cassette tape holder and picked up two blankets off the floor and threw them on my bed and low and behold my room looks like 50% better. I was amazed. those blankets were covering alot of floors space apparently. Hmm...
I am gonna post my major finds from my trip to Richmond last weekend. their the pictures that you see... the rhinestone and stud setter and the care bears sheets.
I went to micheals to compare rhinestone/studder prices . I got mine with all the peices still intact and instractions for $3 and at micheals the same thing minus a box to keep it in (it came in clam plastic ick) was 15 bucks. So I am happy. the carebears sheets were a $1.50. I love kids sheets. I collect the ones from my youth when i come across them. I have some california raisin sheets I found in chicago that still amuse me. Anywhoodle. Ya so those are the finds I am excited to use the studder I actally needed to get one for a project that I have sketched up but haven't done yet.

Man this totally sucks I have been trying to figure out for the life of me why my info stuff is halfway down the page.... I think if I could figure that out I'd be at least a little happy with my sad little blog page. I am inlove with so many peoples blogs their so pretty and mine looks like poop. It makes me want to go pout. anywhoodle. I am going to remain calm and in a determinedly good mood and figure out how to do all the html stuff I have to figure out to make this whole thing fabulous. Just simply fabulous.
In other news... the dna scarf hasn't killed me though I am on the verge of killing it... i don't understand out dislike for each other why such difficulties? I just don't understand. Its almost to the middle part which means I'm half wayt o the end. i am beginning to see the light fromt he other end i think. I have been working on other things to try and push me through the funk but those aren't moving very quickly due to my stubborn determination to attempt to finish the dna scarf. its like a square dance. I take two steps forward and five steps back and eventually I know I'll get to the end of the song but not with out some fat guy stepping on my toes first. hehe...
well off to try try agian.. I should take some pictures of it to show it as it is so far. blah awful.

So I have been busy I geuss doing the usual run around. I haven't gotten to much finished really with knitting which frustrates me alot since I am around knitting all the time. I bought the new k.1 magazine. I think its very informative and enjoies a good many of their articles though I didn't care for their layout overly much a bit to cluttered it did have some cute patterns (along with a few awful ones) but over all I enjoied it. I bought a Rowan pattern mag too. I have seven skeins of the rowan ribbon twist yarn on hld for me til pay day with the ribbon twist rowan book. I want to make a sweater thats in there because I am in love with the yarn. I think the largest reason I'm not getting as much knitting done is because my hands are more swollen than usual so its alot slower going than I normally am. Plus I keep having to frog sections because of small mistakes not caught early enough or personal preferance. I know I'll get all the projects done though I am to stubborn not too. Stich N Bitch group had a fondu movie night at jill's yeaterday that was fun I really enjoied it even if I was late. Jill is so sweet she really goes out of her way to make people comfortable and at ease which is an admirable trait I think. anywhoodle. She some how ended up with a stash of yarn she didn't want or something I don't know the full details so i got some of that. I hope no one else wanted any of it since I would feel bad taking anything anyone else had wanted. I hope to figure out what to make with it all soon. Well... i think that about covers it.

lazy Daisy

So I made a dim sum kitty toy tonight at the stich and Bitch. they are really really easy to make. It origanally started out to be dice but I made the first square to large and didn't think about it till it was so far along I could just turn it into the dim sum toy. So thats what happened. I need to work ont he misfits thing. Its just a matter of re-knitting it agian. Just need to get off my duff. Been lazy this past week. But the punk_knitters community is waiting on the pattern so I need to get that rear in gear.
I am thinking it is time to give in and start the next project namely paul's mittens. he wants hobo gloves. So this should be interesting. I have never made mittens let alone gloves so hopefully I can do this with out to much trouble. I am not sure what color he wants.... so black will work i think very un original if her really wants I'll put a bright blue stripe in it or something. Peter really wants the Space Inaders scarf and a matching beenie I know if I get the yarn and start now I could get it done for a Christmas present so maybe I'll do that. Amber in my knitting group wants to make it too so I recommended we do a knit along with it since i figure it will help us both get it done. And if she has any problems she can get the help she needs. So I think I'll call her tomorrow and see what she thinks so I can figure out whats happening. i need to get some money for these projects......blah! my poor parents will soon be poor because i am constantly having them buy me yarn.

Misfit knit

So the two misfits skull pattern pictures we're created in one evening in the span of 6 hours after the stitch and bitch of last week not yesterdays. Jen and I were talking about the skully sweater she thought it was something I'd like to make and I said I really wasn't to impressed with the skulls it has and we were chatting about what skulls would be cool and what is more classic than the the misfits skull? Not much so I went to work when i got home with this idea that the misfits skull should be knit and that is what came out. I am going to work with it a little more. Refine it. I think also that it needs to be a rule that the darker or more dominant color needs to be the one the actually makes up the face as it lends itself to it better it seems than the other way around. I think thats why the wrong side looks more like the actual skull than the front which reminds me of a dead kermit the frog.

Other news. Finished all knit and crochet work for the plaid baby blanket and started the double helix scarf. Which is alot easier than it looks.
Welp off to the knitting board.

Moving along

So I finished the knitting part of the Baby blanket I'll try to get some pictures up assaple. It's looking good. I bought the fabric for the back. I really think that it will look great. Its a cream colored quilted fabric. I decided I liked it better than the fleeces and flannels for this project although they had some really lovely flannels.
I bought the yarn for the Double Helix scarf my brother paul wants. I hope I can get it to turn out. I've never cabled before and this has got just a little bit of that. Maybe I'll start another easier project at the same time so I don't feel to unaccomplished.
I need to do a little running around for my Omi since she wants some yarn the color of my cousin Emma's hair for a doll she's knitting. Hopefully I can find some. It's fall season so I think I can since alot of browns should be coming out now on the shelves. Well I'm going to go get back to the knit.

orentation and halloween

So lets see. I talked to the knitting Corner. Carol is back in the hospital agian and I'm going to be only working at Ewe Knits. We had a nice chat about this and that though while I sat around and knit with her in her store. Alot of crochet only people came in looking for stuff. Anywhoodle. I am going to get those Candle sticks I promised myself tomorrow. exciting. I wanna get a light fixture I saw at target too but I have to wait on it since its just not a must have item as of yet. Halloween is my favorite holiday I'm excited its coming up.
I had my job orentation. It went really good. The hardest part being I had to fill out two peices of paper namely my W2's and the other little thing that says I say I'm American and can work in the USA. That took about ... twenty seconds. Then I got the tour and a quick overview of the daily schedule, how to work the register, that sort of thing. I am really excited about it all mainly because this is the first job where I feel like I can never get bored with it since I am actually super interested in the whole idea and purpose of the store. I think all my old friends think I'm a total nut now but I really don't mind since I was a bit of a nut before.

I knit some more on the way home in traffic sicne the traffic was bad the way I went. Very Stop and go... two centimeters. So that was kind of nice I've done that before knitting in traffic jams but always on the highway/ interstate this was just on regualr streets. Anywhoodle.

Worry knitting

You know I really didn't think about it until... about two hours after talking to Knitting Corner when it came to my attention after my high of yarn-phoria came down that the two shops might not be to happy with me helping both of them. Just don't think of things like that I guess. But the more I thought about it the more worried I became that it would be a problem even though I'm only planning to work at Knitting Corner to help the ladies there out til the one that broke her ankle can come back regular agian or they find a permenant replacement. So to make sure it's going to be okay I'm going in today to talk to Knitting Corner first then to Talk to Ewe knits. Since well if Knitting Corner has a problem with me working at Ewe Knits I'll just have to apologize to Carol and Betty and say that Ewe knits nabbed me first and that as much as I'd love to help out I can't... If they say their fine with it then I can take it to Ewe and make sure that their fine with it and stress the fact that I'm only trying to help the ladies at the other shop out because they are friends. As far as I know there isn't any bad blood between these two shops like there is with some of the others. Heck I might still think on it a little more and decide to just politely decline Knitting Corner. I feel terrible about my accidental pickle I've dragged them into. Sigh. I've been up all night worry knitting and cleaning. I tend to do that when I worry (amazing concept I know. you'd never have geussed). I finished the white mid section on the plaid baby blanket. All 74 rows and am now at the point where I can start switching in and out for the stripes. My closet has been reorganized agian and my room in now not quite spotless but really really close. I have one pile of clothing that needs to get folded and to put my dresser back into place (I have to get help with that part and I didn't think my brothers would take kindly to being awakened at... 0' dark thirty in the AM). Of course I finally get to bed at 5 and alarms start going off I ignore them and sleep on as best as possible till the dog informs me she needs out. At which point its helpless to do anything but wake up agian (that happened at 7am). The cats come clamoring for attention my brothers will be getting ready to go to school and the house won't settle down agian enough for me to go back to bed til... 8:15am when the cats will go to sleep and the dog will lie down for a while to rest up for chasing the cats later. And I'm sure at that point I'll be getting ready to go talk to the Knitting Corner so that I get everything worked out. I really hope I haven't botched anything up. I'm sure I'm worrying about this far more than I really aught.

Stitch N Bitch # 4

So last night was the weekly stitch n bitch for Va beach. I really have to say that I adore the group. Everyone is just so awesome. I need to try to remember to go to Mollie's yoga place soon and use the free yoga lesson I got. I am excited to get together with Jill sometime this week when ever we can both get together and was really flattered that she's want to hang out with me. Its always nice to be liked. I need to remember to get a thank you card to Joann(e?) for the knitting needles she gave to me. She's just so generous. And I'm really excited about getting to know the other Ewe Knit workers better as we all work together (you guys know who you are). Stacey returned from her Hiatus and some other faces I've met before but can't remember the names of were around too.
The main topics of dicussion this week were the Fabric Festival that had just happened on Saturday and the giagantic one coming up in May. Everyone shared their finds from the festival or where ever they've been for the past week or two and then it sort of splintered into smaller conversations about diffrent things.
I start orientation tonight at Ewe Knits (hopefully) not sure what time exactly their supose to call me but I know its definatly today.I'm excited.

knit 2 in a row

So I just got a call from The Knitting Corner another local yarn shop. They want to hire me too though they want to pay me with yarn credit. Its on diffrent days than what the other store wants me for so I accepted. I feel pretty spiffy. Hopefully it'll be fine with the other store. I am a little worried about competition stuff or what ever but I don't think that they'll be like that. Especially since I'm fairly sure that the Knitting Corner would be a temporary thing til the other employees get better.

So I got a call this morning from Ewe Knits , a local yarn store I had applied to. I got the job. I go in for orientation tomorrow. I'm very excited. I really hope that I can be of help there and am really excited about how this is going to help me with my knitting not simply because I get yarn discounts but because of all the ideas and diffrent things going around I'll be learning a ton. So Hip- Hip- Hurray I'm gonna dance and sing all day just not down in fragile rock. I checked out some Knitting books from the local library today when I went to register to vote too.
They are:
*Gift Knits, more than 70 wearable and decorative projects- Chris Rankin
*Hot Knits, 30 cool, fun designs to knit and wear- Melissa Leapman
*Animal Knits, 26 fun handknits for children and toddlers- Zoe Mellor
*A History of Hand Knitting- Richard Rutt

There are alot of really cute intersia patterns I'm in love with from the gift knits and the animal knits. We'll see what I come up with huh? need to finish all my other projects first. Got a little farther with the baby blanket. Hopefully it'll just keep coming along as quickly as it is.

I'm trying to figure out how to put up a links section. Haven't quite figured out everything yet... actually I'm very far from figuring all that out but I'm doing pretty good I think for a start. So we'll see if I can get that up and going this week.

The beginings of the plaid baby blanket Posted by Hello

Plaid blankets and blogger details

So today I got this up and running. I hope to refine it quite a bit more but I have to figure out how do everything so it is going to take a little while. I hope you all will bear with me through it.

The plaid baby blanket is coming along though I'll admit I'm very temted to start another project so I can alternate between the two. The manotany of the stockinette stich is starting to get to me a little. But I have a dead line this thing needs to be done by the end of Novemeber at the latest. I'd really like to get it done way before that. The knitting and Crochet parts of it has to be finished by the end of October for sure since I still have to find the fabrics to match the colors I chose for the yarn and sew it all together. I am really excited to see how it turns out. Another reason I'm putting off starting the next project is its the Double Helix Scarf. I already knit two of my brothers scarves and my last brother wants his to be that scarf. Very intimidated. I'm posotive I can do it and that it'll look great but I am defiantly a little "Whoah!" about the whole thing.
Back to to the plaid blanket. I finished the first of the three skeins of white. Hurray! So that makes me feel accomplished.
I really need to figure out how to get the links thing up and going since there are some knitters sites and things that I'd love to share and be able to reach at the click of a little button. So that will be the next thing to figure out on here.
Well back to the knit.

The Beginning is the End

This is to be my little spot of crafty heaven. I am going to share all my projects and their trials with whom ever wants to perrooze about and check it out.
I learned to knit when I was a little girl from my mother and Omi (aka grandmother). However, with my small attention span and annoyance with sticky fingers and projects that never really got off on the right foot I abandoned it to pick it up agian later. I re-learned to knit more times than I can count til about six months ago I went to Texas to visit my Omi and was bored out of my wits. She suggested I finish knitting a swatch my Oma (aka great-grandmother) had been working on when she had visited to keep her hands busy. It was a bright pink acrylic yarn. I agreed and was soon completely enamored with knitting. I have been kintting like mad ever since. I geuss I knit so much because I feel like I wasted so much time not knitting when I could have been. I have since completed one beenie, two bags, four scarves, and one can coozie.
