Knitting Quizzes

Knitting Adventurer
You appear to be a Knitting Adventurer.
You are through those knitting growing pains and
feeling more adventurous. You can follow a
standard pattern if it's not too complicated
and know where to go to get help. Maybe you've
started to experiment with different fibers and
you might be eyeing a book with a cool
technique you've never tried. Perhaps you
prefer to stick to other people's patterns but
you are trying to challenge yourself more.
Regardless of your preference, you are
continually trying to grow as a knitter, and as
well you should since your non-knitting friends
are probably dropping some serious hints, these
days.

You are pink aluminum.
Retro, straightforward and fun, you love classic
things. If they're 99 cents at Goodwill all the
better! You are moved by striking colors and
tasty morsels, and you like a stitch-n-bitch
session in the sun. Just remember, while
you're being kitschy cool, don't get too cold.
Ice cubes are best kept in your cocktails,

lazy Daisy

So I made a dim sum kitty toy tonight at the stich and Bitch. they are really really easy to make. It origanally started out to be dice but I made the first square to large and didn't think about it till it was so far along I could just turn it into the dim sum toy. So thats what happened. I need to work ont he misfits thing. Its just a matter of re-knitting it agian. Just need to get off my duff. Been lazy this past week. But the punk_knitters community is waiting on the pattern so I need to get that rear in gear.
I am thinking it is time to give in and start the next project namely paul's mittens. he wants hobo gloves. So this should be interesting. I have never made mittens let alone gloves so hopefully I can do this with out to much trouble. I am not sure what color he wants.... so black will work i think very un original if her really wants I'll put a bright blue stripe in it or something. Peter really wants the Space Inaders scarf and a matching beenie I know if I get the yarn and start now I could get it done for a Christmas present so maybe I'll do that. Amber in my knitting group wants to make it too so I recommended we do a knit along with it since i figure it will help us both get it done. And if she has any problems she can get the help she needs. So I think I'll call her tomorrow and see what she thinks so I can figure out whats happening. i need to get some money for these projects......blah! my poor parents will soon be poor because i am constantly having them buy me yarn.

Misfit knit

So the two misfits skull pattern pictures we're created in one evening in the span of 6 hours after the stitch and bitch of last week not yesterdays. Jen and I were talking about the skully sweater she thought it was something I'd like to make and I said I really wasn't to impressed with the skulls it has and we were chatting about what skulls would be cool and what is more classic than the the misfits skull? Not much so I went to work when i got home with this idea that the misfits skull should be knit and that is what came out. I am going to work with it a little more. Refine it. I think also that it needs to be a rule that the darker or more dominant color needs to be the one the actually makes up the face as it lends itself to it better it seems than the other way around. I think thats why the wrong side looks more like the actual skull than the front which reminds me of a dead kermit the frog.

Other news. Finished all knit and crochet work for the plaid baby blanket and started the double helix scarf. Which is alot easier than it looks.
Welp off to the knitting board.

Moving along

So I finished the knitting part of the Baby blanket I'll try to get some pictures up assaple. It's looking good. I bought the fabric for the back. I really think that it will look great. Its a cream colored quilted fabric. I decided I liked it better than the fleeces and flannels for this project although they had some really lovely flannels.
I bought the yarn for the Double Helix scarf my brother paul wants. I hope I can get it to turn out. I've never cabled before and this has got just a little bit of that. Maybe I'll start another easier project at the same time so I don't feel to unaccomplished.
I need to do a little running around for my Omi since she wants some yarn the color of my cousin Emma's hair for a doll she's knitting. Hopefully I can find some. It's fall season so I think I can since alot of browns should be coming out now on the shelves. Well I'm going to go get back to the knit.

orentation and halloween

So lets see. I talked to the knitting Corner. Carol is back in the hospital agian and I'm going to be only working at Ewe Knits. We had a nice chat about this and that though while I sat around and knit with her in her store. Alot of crochet only people came in looking for stuff. Anywhoodle. I am going to get those Candle sticks I promised myself tomorrow. exciting. I wanna get a light fixture I saw at target too but I have to wait on it since its just not a must have item as of yet. Halloween is my favorite holiday I'm excited its coming up.
I had my job orentation. It went really good. The hardest part being I had to fill out two peices of paper namely my W2's and the other little thing that says I say I'm American and can work in the USA. That took about ... twenty seconds. Then I got the tour and a quick overview of the daily schedule, how to work the register, that sort of thing. I am really excited about it all mainly because this is the first job where I feel like I can never get bored with it since I am actually super interested in the whole idea and purpose of the store. I think all my old friends think I'm a total nut now but I really don't mind since I was a bit of a nut before.

I knit some more on the way home in traffic sicne the traffic was bad the way I went. Very Stop and go... two centimeters. So that was kind of nice I've done that before knitting in traffic jams but always on the highway/ interstate this was just on regualr streets. Anywhoodle.

Worry knitting

You know I really didn't think about it until... about two hours after talking to Knitting Corner when it came to my attention after my high of yarn-phoria came down that the two shops might not be to happy with me helping both of them. Just don't think of things like that I guess. But the more I thought about it the more worried I became that it would be a problem even though I'm only planning to work at Knitting Corner to help the ladies there out til the one that broke her ankle can come back regular agian or they find a permenant replacement. So to make sure it's going to be okay I'm going in today to talk to Knitting Corner first then to Talk to Ewe knits. Since well if Knitting Corner has a problem with me working at Ewe Knits I'll just have to apologize to Carol and Betty and say that Ewe knits nabbed me first and that as much as I'd love to help out I can't... If they say their fine with it then I can take it to Ewe and make sure that their fine with it and stress the fact that I'm only trying to help the ladies at the other shop out because they are friends. As far as I know there isn't any bad blood between these two shops like there is with some of the others. Heck I might still think on it a little more and decide to just politely decline Knitting Corner. I feel terrible about my accidental pickle I've dragged them into. Sigh. I've been up all night worry knitting and cleaning. I tend to do that when I worry (amazing concept I know. you'd never have geussed). I finished the white mid section on the plaid baby blanket. All 74 rows and am now at the point where I can start switching in and out for the stripes. My closet has been reorganized agian and my room in now not quite spotless but really really close. I have one pile of clothing that needs to get folded and to put my dresser back into place (I have to get help with that part and I didn't think my brothers would take kindly to being awakened at... 0' dark thirty in the AM). Of course I finally get to bed at 5 and alarms start going off I ignore them and sleep on as best as possible till the dog informs me she needs out. At which point its helpless to do anything but wake up agian (that happened at 7am). The cats come clamoring for attention my brothers will be getting ready to go to school and the house won't settle down agian enough for me to go back to bed til... 8:15am when the cats will go to sleep and the dog will lie down for a while to rest up for chasing the cats later. And I'm sure at that point I'll be getting ready to go talk to the Knitting Corner so that I get everything worked out. I really hope I haven't botched anything up. I'm sure I'm worrying about this far more than I really aught.

Stitch N Bitch # 4

So last night was the weekly stitch n bitch for Va beach. I really have to say that I adore the group. Everyone is just so awesome. I need to try to remember to go to Mollie's yoga place soon and use the free yoga lesson I got. I am excited to get together with Jill sometime this week when ever we can both get together and was really flattered that she's want to hang out with me. Its always nice to be liked. I need to remember to get a thank you card to Joann(e?) for the knitting needles she gave to me. She's just so generous. And I'm really excited about getting to know the other Ewe Knit workers better as we all work together (you guys know who you are). Stacey returned from her Hiatus and some other faces I've met before but can't remember the names of were around too.
The main topics of dicussion this week were the Fabric Festival that had just happened on Saturday and the giagantic one coming up in May. Everyone shared their finds from the festival or where ever they've been for the past week or two and then it sort of splintered into smaller conversations about diffrent things.
I start orientation tonight at Ewe Knits (hopefully) not sure what time exactly their supose to call me but I know its definatly today.I'm excited.

knit 2 in a row

So I just got a call from The Knitting Corner another local yarn shop. They want to hire me too though they want to pay me with yarn credit. Its on diffrent days than what the other store wants me for so I accepted. I feel pretty spiffy. Hopefully it'll be fine with the other store. I am a little worried about competition stuff or what ever but I don't think that they'll be like that. Especially since I'm fairly sure that the Knitting Corner would be a temporary thing til the other employees get better.

So I got a call this morning from Ewe Knits , a local yarn store I had applied to. I got the job. I go in for orientation tomorrow. I'm very excited. I really hope that I can be of help there and am really excited about how this is going to help me with my knitting not simply because I get yarn discounts but because of all the ideas and diffrent things going around I'll be learning a ton. So Hip- Hip- Hurray I'm gonna dance and sing all day just not down in fragile rock. I checked out some Knitting books from the local library today when I went to register to vote too.
They are:
*Gift Knits, more than 70 wearable and decorative projects- Chris Rankin
*Hot Knits, 30 cool, fun designs to knit and wear- Melissa Leapman
*Animal Knits, 26 fun handknits for children and toddlers- Zoe Mellor
*A History of Hand Knitting- Richard Rutt

There are alot of really cute intersia patterns I'm in love with from the gift knits and the animal knits. We'll see what I come up with huh? need to finish all my other projects first. Got a little farther with the baby blanket. Hopefully it'll just keep coming along as quickly as it is.

I'm trying to figure out how to put up a links section. Haven't quite figured out everything yet... actually I'm very far from figuring all that out but I'm doing pretty good I think for a start. So we'll see if I can get that up and going this week.

The beginings of the plaid baby blanket Posted by Hello

Plaid blankets and blogger details

So today I got this up and running. I hope to refine it quite a bit more but I have to figure out how do everything so it is going to take a little while. I hope you all will bear with me through it.

The plaid baby blanket is coming along though I'll admit I'm very temted to start another project so I can alternate between the two. The manotany of the stockinette stich is starting to get to me a little. But I have a dead line this thing needs to be done by the end of Novemeber at the latest. I'd really like to get it done way before that. The knitting and Crochet parts of it has to be finished by the end of October for sure since I still have to find the fabrics to match the colors I chose for the yarn and sew it all together. I am really excited to see how it turns out. Another reason I'm putting off starting the next project is its the Double Helix Scarf. I already knit two of my brothers scarves and my last brother wants his to be that scarf. Very intimidated. I'm posotive I can do it and that it'll look great but I am defiantly a little "Whoah!" about the whole thing.
Back to to the plaid blanket. I finished the first of the three skeins of white. Hurray! So that makes me feel accomplished.
I really need to figure out how to get the links thing up and going since there are some knitters sites and things that I'd love to share and be able to reach at the click of a little button. So that will be the next thing to figure out on here.
Well back to the knit.

The Beginning is the End

This is to be my little spot of crafty heaven. I am going to share all my projects and their trials with whom ever wants to perrooze about and check it out.
I learned to knit when I was a little girl from my mother and Omi (aka grandmother). However, with my small attention span and annoyance with sticky fingers and projects that never really got off on the right foot I abandoned it to pick it up agian later. I re-learned to knit more times than I can count til about six months ago I went to Texas to visit my Omi and was bored out of my wits. She suggested I finish knitting a swatch my Oma (aka great-grandmother) had been working on when she had visited to keep her hands busy. It was a bright pink acrylic yarn. I agreed and was soon completely enamored with knitting. I have been kintting like mad ever since. I geuss I knit so much because I feel like I wasted so much time not knitting when I could have been. I have since completed one beenie, two bags, four scarves, and one can coozie.
